Bible Study January 7st | 2 Corinthians 9:6 – 15 | Sowing Generously

Our study this week is in 2 Corinthians 9:6 – 15.  Sowing Generously.

Live in the Narthex, Sunday at 9:00 am

Our normal cadence is:

  1. Brief discussion previous week, with thought questions that will tie into the lesson.
  2. Open with prayer
  3. Read the section of scripture.  Try to let everyone read a few verses, but will modify as needed.
  4. Work through the prepared questions … at our own pace.
  5. Close with prayer after ~ 45 minutes.

Hope you can join us live and participate in the study.  We always enjoy interaction.  Or you can use the guide to study on your own.  Feel free to share with others.

Step1:  Opening and Introduction to the lesson – Personal Testimonies and or any Reflections?  What is one lesson about money you can recall learning from your parents?

Step 2:  Hear – Read:  2 Cor 9:6 thru – 9-15. Sowing Generously.

Step 3:  Explore – Discover the Passage

  1. By sowing and reaping imagery, is Paul saying that if you give $100 you will get $1,000?  Why or why not?
  • What do you make of the 4 “all(s)” in verse 8?  What does this section teach you about God’s character and role in the area of giving?  What initiates Thanksgiving to God (2 Cor 4:15?
  • For what purpose will God materially bless these people?  How does generosity effect righteousness, and the ever-widening circles of people giving thanks to God?
  • How is giving contagious?  How does if reflect God’s grace?  Why is being able to receive also important (v.12)?

Step 4:  Connect – Apply the Passage:

  1. What have you reaped by being generous to others?
  • How can God’s promise (verse 8) enable you to be more generous?  Enable you to persevere in your work?
  • How do generosity and financial planning and responsibility fit together?

Step 5:  Reflect:  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
