+ DAILY PRAYER +
The Protection of the Righteous and the Destruction of the Wicked Of David. 1 Do not fret because of evildoers; do not be envious of doers of wickedness. 2 For like the grass they will dry up quickly, and like green vegetation they will wither. 3 Trust Yahweh and do good. Abide in the land and feed on faithfulness. 4 Take pleasure in Yahweh as well,…
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 98:1-6, 9
Psa 98:1 Oh sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done marvelous things!
His right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
Psa 98:2 The LORD has made known his salvation;
he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
Psa 98:3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth
have seen the salvation of our God.
Psa 98:4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Psa 98:5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody!
Psa 98:6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!
Psa 98:9 before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.
Reading for Tuesday December 24th Psalm 37:1-17
The Protection of the Righteous and the Destruction of the Wicked
37 Of David.
1 Do not fret because of evildoers;
do not be envious of doers of wickedness.
2 For like the grass they will dry up quickly,
and like green vegetation they will wither.
3 Trust Yahweh and do good.
Abide in the land and feed on faithfulness.
4 Take pleasure in Yahweh as well,
and he will give to you the requests of your heart.
5 ?Commit to? Yahweh your way;
Trust also on him and he will act.
6 Then he will bring forth your righteousness like the light,
and your justice like the noonday.
7 Be quiet before Yahweh and wait for him.
Do not fret about one who succeeds in his way,
about a man making plots.
8 Refrain from anger and forsake wrath.
Do not fret; it only brings evil.
9 For evildoers will be cut off,
but those who wait for Yahweh—
they will possess the land.
10 And yet a little while and the wicked will not be,
and you will look carefully upon his place, but he will not be.
11 But the afflicted will possess the land,
and they will take pleasure in an abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plans evil against the righteous,
and gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord laughs at him,
for he sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow
to throw down the poor and the needy,
to kill those upright in their way.
15 Their sword will enter into their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.
16 The little belonging to the righteous is better
than the wealth of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but Yahweh supports the righteous.
Lord’s Prayer
Daily Prayer
O God, You make us glad with the yearly remembrance of the birth of Your only begotten Soin, Jesus Christ. Grant that as we joyfully receive Him as our Redeemer, we may with sure confidence behold Him when He comes to be our Judge; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
