+ DAILY PRAYER +

Thanksgiving for God’s Provision in Time of Sickness For the music director. A psalm of David. 1 Blessed is the one who has regard for the poor; in the day of disaster, Yahweh delivers him. 2 Yahweh protects him and keeps him alive; he is blessed in the land, and you do not give him into the will of his enemies. 3 Yahweh sustains him on his sick bed. In his illness, you ?restore to health?. 4 As for me, I said, “O Yahweh, be gracious to me. Heal me, for I have sinned against you.”…

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

     Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!

     In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!

     Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,

     and he hears my voice.

     Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;

     He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 111:1-6, 10

Psa 111:1  Praise the LORD!

I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart,

in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

Psa 111:2  Great are the works of the LORD,

studied by all who delight in them.

Psa 111:3  Full of splendor and majesty is his work,

and his righteousness endures forever.

Psa 111:4  He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;

the LORD is gracious and merciful.

Psa 111:5  He provides food for those who fear him;

he remembers his covenant forever.

Psa 111:6  He has shown his people the power of his works,

in giving them the inheritance of the nations.

Psa 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;

all those who practice it have a good understanding.

His praise endures forever!

Reading for Tuesday December 31st       Psalm 41

Thanksgiving for God’s Provision in Time of Sickness

41 For the music director. A psalm of David.

1 Blessed is the one who has regard for the poor;

in the day of disaster, Yahweh delivers him.

2 Yahweh protects him and keeps him alive;

he is blessed in the land,

and you do not give him

into the will of his enemies.

3 Yahweh sustains him on his sick bed.

In his illness, you ?restore to health?.

4 As for me, I said, “O Yahweh, be gracious to me.

Heal me, for I have sinned against you.”

5 My enemies speak evil about me,

“When will he die and his name perish?”

6 And when one comes to see me, he speaks falsely;

his heart gathers disaster for itself.

He goes out to the street; he speaks.

7 All who hate me speak together against me.

Against me they assume the ?worst? for me:

8 “A ruinous thing is poured out on him,

and now that he lies down, he will not rise up again.”

9 Even ?my close friend?, whom I trusted,

who ate my bread,

has lifted his heel against me.

10 But you, O Yahweh, be gracious to me and raise me up

that I may repay them.

11 By this I know that you delight in me:

because my enemy has not shouted in triumph over me.

12 As for me, you have upheld me in my integrity,

and you have set me in your presence forever.

13 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,

from everlasting to everlasting.

Amen and Amen.
