+ DAILY PRAYER +
For the music director. A psalm of David. 1 O Yahweh, the king will rejoice in your strength, and how greatly he will delight in your help. 2 You have given him the desire of his heart, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah 3 For you meet him with blessings of good things. You set on his head a crown of fine gold. 4 He asked life from you; you gave it to him— length of days forever and ever…
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55:16-23
Psa 55:16 But I call to God, and the LORD will save me.
Psa 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon
I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice.
Psa 55:18 He redeems my soul in safety from the battle that I wage,
for many are arrayed against me.
Psa 55:19 God will give ear and humble them,
he who is enthroned from of old, Selah
because they do not change and do not fear God.
Psa 55:20 My companion stretched out his hand against his friends;
he violated his covenant.
Psa 55:21 His speech was smooth as butter,
yet war was in his heart;
his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
Psa 55:22 Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you;
he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psa 55:23 But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction;
men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you.
Reading for Tuesday December 3rd Psalm 21:1-22:10
21 For the music director. A psalm of David.
1 O Yahweh, the king will rejoice in your strength,
and how greatly he will delight in your help.
2 You have given him the desire of his heart,
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
3 For you meet him with blessings of good things.
You set on his head a crown of fine gold.
4 He asked life from you; you gave it to him—
length of days forever and ever.
5 His honor is great because of your help.
Splendor and majesty you have bestowed upon him.
6 For you set on him blessings forever.
You make him glad with the joy of your presence.
7 Because the king trusts Yahweh,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High
he shall not be moved.
8 Your hand will find all your enemies;
your right hand will find those who hate you.
9 You will make them like your fiery furnace
at the time of your appearance.
Yahweh will swallow them in his wrath
and fire will consume them.
10 You will destroy their ?offspring? from the earth,
and their ?descendants? from among the children of humankind.
11 Though they have ?plotted? evil against you,
though they have planned a scheme, they will not prevail.
12 For you will ?turn them to flight?;
you will aim arrows on your bowstrings at their faces.
13 Be exalted, O Yahweh, in your strength,
and we sing and praise your power.
Suffering and Waiting for Deliverance
22 For the music director; according to The Doe of the Dawn. A psalm of David.
1 My God, my God why have you forsaken me?
Why are you far from helping me, far from the words of my groaning?
2 O my God, I call by day and you do not answer,
and by night but I have no rest.
3 Yet you are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel.
4 Our ancestors trusted you;
they trusted and you delivered them.
5 They cried to you and were saved;
they trusted you and were not ashamed.
6 But I am a worm and not a man,
scorned by humankind and despised by people.
7 All who see me mock me.
They open wide their lips;
they shake the head, saying:
8 “?He trusts Yahweh?. Let him rescue him.
Let him deliver him because he delights in him.”
9 Yet you took me from the belly;
you made me trust while on my mother’s breasts.
10 On you I was cast from the womb.
From my mother’s belly you have been my God.
