+ DAILY PRAYER +
God’s Faithfulness in Israel’s History A maskil of Asaph. 1 Listen, O my people, to my teaching. Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will offer a parable with my mouth. I will pour out riddles from long ago, 3 that we have heard and known, and our ancestors have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, telling the next generation the praises of Yahweh, and his power and his wonders that he has done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel,…
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 105:1, 23, 37-45
Psa 105:1 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
Psa 105:23 Then Israel came to Egypt;
Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
Psa 105:37 Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold,
and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
Psa 105:38 Egypt was glad when they departed,
for dread of them had fallen upon it.
Psa 105:39 He spread a cloud for a covering,
and fire to give light by night.
Psa 105:40 They asked, and he brought quail,
and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.
Psa 105:41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
it flowed through the desert like a river.
Psa 105:42 For he remembered his holy promise,
and Abraham, his servant.
Psa 105:43 So he brought his people out with joy,
his chosen ones with singing.
Psa 105:44 And he gave them the lands of the nations,
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
Psa 105:45 that they might keep his statutes
and observe his laws. Praise the LORD!

God’s Faithfulness in Israel’s History
78 A maskil of Asaph.
1 Listen, O my people, to my teaching.
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will offer a parable with my mouth.
I will pour out riddles from long ago,
3 that we have heard and known,
and our ancestors have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children,
telling the next generation the praises of Yahweh,
and his power and his wonders that he has done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob,
and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
to teach to their children,
6 so that the next generation might know—
children yet to be born—
that they might rise up and tell their children,
7 that they might set their confidence in God,
and not forget the deeds of God,
but keep his commandments,
8 and not be like their ancestors,
a stubborn and rebellious generation,
a generation that did not make ready its heart,
whose spirit was not faithful to God.
9 The sons of Ephraim, ?armed with archers?,
turned back on the day of battle.
10 They did not keep the covenant of God
and refused to go in his law.
11 They also forgot his deeds,
and his wonders that he had shown them.
12 In front of their ancestors he did a wonder,
in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13 He split the sea and caused them to go over,
and he caused waters to stand like a heap.
14 And he led them with the cloud by day,
and all night with a fiery light.
15 He caused rocks to split in the wilderness
and provided drink abundantly as from the depths.
16 And he brought streams out of the rock
and caused water to flow down like rivers.
17 But they sinned still further against him
by rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18 And they tested God in their heart
by asking food ?for their craving?.
Lord’s Prayer
Daily Prayer
O God, our refuge and our strength, You raised up Your servant Martin Luther to reform and renew Your Church in the light of Your living Word, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Defend and purify the Church in our own day, and grant that we may boldly proclaim Christ’s faithfulness unto death and His vindicating resurrection, which You made known to Your servant Martin through Jesus Christ, our Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
