And the beauty of its ornament ?he made into a prideful thing? and made with it their detestable things and their vile idols; therefore I will make it into an impure thing for them. 21 And I will give it into the hand of strangers as plunder and to the wicked people of the earth as spoil, and they will defile it. 22 And I will turn my face from them, and they will defile my treasured place, and violent ones…
+ DAILY PRAYER +
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 137:1-7
Psa 137:1 By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
Psa 137:2 On the willows there we hung up our lyres.
Psa 137:3 For there our captors required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”
Psa 137:4 How shall we sing the LORD’s song in a foreign land?
Psa 137:5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill!
Psa 137:6 Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy!
Psa 137:7 Remember, O LORD, against the Edomites
the day of Jerusalem, how they said,
“Lay it bare, lay it bare, down to its foundations!”

Judgment for the Profanation of the Temple and Sanctuary
20 “ ‘And the beauty of its ornament ?he made into a prideful thing? and made with it their detestable things and their vile idols; therefore I will make it into an impure thing for them. 21 And I will give it into the hand of strangers as plunder and to the wicked people of the earth as spoil, and they will defile it. 22 And I will turn my face from them, and they will defile my treasured place, and violent ones will enter and defile it. 23 Make a chain for the land; it is full of ?bloody crimes? and the city is full of violence. 24 And I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will take possession of their houses, and I will put to an end the pride of the mighty ones, and their sanctuaries will be defiled. 25 Anguish comes, and they will seek peace, and there will be none. 26 Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor will be upon rumor. And they will seek a vision from a prophet, but instruction will perish from the priest and counsel from the elders. 27 The king will mourn, and the prince will be dressed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. According to their way I will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them, and they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

Almighty God, Your Son, Jesus Christ, restored Mary Magdalene to health and called her to be the first witness of His resurrection. Heal us from all our infirmities, and call us to know You in the Power of Your Son’s unending life; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
