Daily Devotion and Prayer for July 29th, 2025

For there will not be a future for the evil; the lamp of the wicked will die out. 21 Fear Yahweh, my son, and the king; with those who change, do not associate. 22 For suddenly their disaster will come, and the ruin of ?both of them?, who knows? 23 These sayings are also for the wise: ?Partiality? in judgment is not good. 24 Whoever says to the guilty, “You are righteous,” the people will curse him; the nations will abhor him. 25 But they who rebuke will have delight, and upon them blessings of goodness will come…

+ DAILY PRAYER +

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

     Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!

     In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!

     Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,

     and he hears my voice.

     Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;

     He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 119:41-48

Psa 119:41  Waw Let your steadfast love come to me, O LORD,

your salvation according to your promise;

Psa 119:42  then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me,

for I trust in your word.

Psa 119:43  And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,

for my hope is in your rules.

Psa 119:44  I will keep your law continually, forever and ever,

Psa 119:45  and I shall walk in a wide place,

for I have sought your precepts.

Psa 119:46  I will also speak of your testimonies before kings

and shall not be put to shame,

Psa 119:47  for I find my delight in your commandments,

which I love.

Psa 119:48  I will lift up my hands toward your commandments,

which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.

Reading for Tuesday July 29th        Prov 24:20-34

20 For there will not be a future for the evil;

the lamp of the wicked will die out.

21 Fear Yahweh, my son, and the king;

with those who change, do not associate.

22 For suddenly their disaster will come,

and the ruin of ?both of them?, who knows?

23 These sayings are also for the wise:

?Partiality? in judgment is not good.

24 Whoever says to the guilty, “You are righteous,” the people will curse him;

the nations will abhor him.

25 But they who rebuke will have delight,

and upon them blessings of goodness will come.

26 He will kiss the lips,

he who gives an honest answer.

27 Prepare your work in the street and get it ready for yourself in the field;

afterward, then you shall build your house.

28 Do not be a witness without cause against your neighbor

nor deceive with your lips.

29 Do not say, “Just as he has done to me, so shall I do to him;

I will pay back the man according to his deed.”

30 I passed by the field of a lazy person,

and over the vineyard of a person lacking ?sense?;

31 and behold, it was overgrown—all of it was covered with thorns, its surface with nettles,

and ?its stone wall? was broken down.

32 Then I myself saw and my heart considered;

I looked, and I took hold of instruction:

33 A little sleep, a little slumber,

a little folding of the hands for rest,

34 and your poverty will come running,

and your lack like an armed warrior.

Lord’s Prayer

Daily Prayer

    Heavenly Father, Your beloved Son befriended frail humans like us to make us Your own.  Teach us to be like Jesus’ dear friends from Bethany, that we might serve Him faithfully like Martha, learn from Him earnestly like Mary, and ultimately be raised by Him like Lazarus.  Through their Lord and ours, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Concluding Prayer

    Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
