The ?wisest of women? builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her hands. 2 He who walks in uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is devious in his ways displeases him. 3 In the mouth of a fool is the rod of pride, but the lips of the wise preserve them. 4 ?When there are no? oxen the manger is empty, but an abundance of crops comes by the strength of an ox. 5 A faithful witness does not lie, but he who breathes out falsehood is a witness of deceit. 6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, but there is none, but knowledge ?comes easily to him who understands?…
+ DAILY PRAYER +
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 84:5-8
Psa 84:5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
Psa 84:6 As they go through the Valley of Baca
they make it a place of springs;
the early rain also covers it with pools.
Psa 84:7 They go from strength to strength;
each one appears before God in Zion.
Psa 84:8 O LORD God of hosts,
hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
Reading for Thursday July 3rd Prov 14:1-15
14 The ?wisest of women? builds her house,
but the foolish tears it down with her hands.
2 He who walks in uprightness fears Yahweh,
but he who is devious in his ways displeases him.
3 In the mouth of a fool is the rod of pride,
but the lips of the wise preserve them.
4 ?When there are no? oxen the manger is empty,
but an abundance of crops comes by the strength of an ox.
5 A faithful witness does not lie,
but he who breathes out falsehood is a witness of deceit.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, but there is none,
but knowledge ?comes easily to him who understands?.
7 Leave ?the presence of a foolish man?,
for you will not come to know ?words of knowledge?.
8 The wisdom of the clever is understanding his ways,
but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Fools mock the guilt offering,
but among the upright, it is favorable.
10 The heart knows the bitterness of its soul,
but in its joy, it will not share itself with a stranger.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed,
but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 There is a way that seems upright ?to? a man,
but its end is the way of death.
13 Even in laughter, a heart may be sad,
and the end of joy may be grief.
14 From his ways, the perverse of heart will be satisfied,
and ?from his own?, so shall a good man.
15 The simple will believe every word,
but the clever will consider his step.
Lord’s Prayer
Daily Prayer
Lord God, the gift of Your Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, was given to the Gentile Cornelius so that Christ dwelled in him and he dwelled in Christ. May that same Spirit of Jesus, which rested on us in Holy Baptism, give us courage to confess His holy name even in the face of the fiercest persecution, so that we might receive the crown of everlasting life; through You Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
