Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 78:9-16
Psa 78:9 The Ephraimites, armed with the bow,
turned back on the day of battle.
Psa 78:10 They did not keep God’s covenant,
but refused to walk according to his law.

and the wonders that he had shown them.

16 in order to deliver you from a strange woman,
from a foreign woman who flatters with her sayings,
17 she who forsakes the partner of her youth
and has forgotten the covenant of her God,
18 for her house sinks to death,
and to the dead are her paths.
19 Of all who go to her, none shall return,
nor do they reach paths of life.
20 So that you will walk on the road of those who are good,
and the paths of those who are righteous you shall keep.
21 For those who are upright will dwell in the land,
and those who are blameless will remain in it.
22 And those who are wicked will be cut off from the land,
and those who are treacherous will be uprooted from it.

Living God, Your almighty power is made known chiefly in showing mercy and patience. Grant us the fullness of Your grace to lay hold of Your promises and live forever in Your presence; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
