Daily Devotion and Prayer for November 6th, 2024

+ DAILY PRAYER +

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook? Or ?can you tie down its mouth with a cord?? 2 Can you put a rope in its nose? Or can you pierce its jawbone with a hook? 3 Will it make numerous pleas for mercy to you? Or will it speak gentle words to you? 4 Will it make a covenant with you?…

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

     Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!

     In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!

     Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,

     and he hears my voice.

     Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;

     He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 118:25-29

Psa 118:25  Save us, we pray, O LORD!

O LORD, we pray, give us success!

Psa 118:26  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!

We bless you from the house of the LORD.

Psa 118:27  The LORD is God,

and he has made his light to shine upon us.

Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar!

Psa 118:28  You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;

you are my God; I will extol you.

Psa 118:29  Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;

for his steadfast love endures forever!

Reading for Wednesday November 6th       Job 41:1-17

41        “Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook?

Or ?can you tie down its mouth with a cord??

2 Can you put a rope in its nose?

Or can you pierce its jawbone with a hook?

3 Will it make numerous pleas for mercy to you?

Or will it speak gentle words to you?

4 Will it make a covenant with you?

Will you take it as a slave forever?

5 Will you play with it as with birds

and put it on a leash for your girls?

6 Will guildsmen bargain over it?

Will they divide it between tradesmen?

7 Can you fill its skin with harpoons

or its head with fish spears?

8 Lay your hands on it;

think about the battle—you will not do it again!

9 “Look, ?the hope of capturing it? is false.

Will one be hurled down even at its sight?

10 Is it not fierce when somebody stirs it?

Who then is he who would stand ?before it??

11 Who has come to confront me, that I should repay him?

Under all the heavens, ?it belongs to me?.

12 “I will not keep quiet concerning its limbs

or concerning the extent of its might and the gracefulness of its frame.

13 Who can strip off ?its outer covering??

Who can penetrate its double harness?

14 Who can open the doors of its face?

Its teeth all around are fearsome.

15 Its back has scales of shields;

it is shut up closely as with a seal.

16 They are close ?to one another?—

even the air cannot come between them.

17 They are joined ?one to another?;

they cling together and cannot be separated.

Lord’s Prayer

Daily Prayer

   Lord God, heavenly Father, the Holy city of Jerusalem rejected the prophets and stoned those who were sent to her, killing Your Son, the final prophet sent to redeem her and the whole world from their sins.  Through His innocent suffering and death, gather Your Church into His loving embrace that we may truly be the Body of Christ; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Concluding Prayer

    Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
