In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 38:9-22
Psa 38:9 O Lord, all my longing is before you;
my sighing is not hidden from you.
Psa 38:10 My heart throbs; my strength fails me,
and the light of my eyes—it also has gone from me.
Psa 38:11 My friends and companions stand aloof
from my plague, and my nearest kin stand far off.
Psa 38:12 Those who seek my life lay their snares;
those who seek my hurt speak of ruin
and meditate treachery all day long.
Psa 38:13 But I am like a deaf man; I do not hear,
like a mute man who does not open his mouth.
Psa 38:14 I have become like a man who does not hear,
and in whose mouth are no rebukes.
Psa 38:15 But for you, O LORD, do I wait;
it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.
Psa 38:16 For I said, “Only let them not rejoice over me,
who boast against me when my foot slips!”
Psa 38:17 For I am ready to fall,
and my pain is ever before me.
Psa 38:18 I confess my iniquity; I am sorry for my sin.
Psa 38:19 But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty,
and many are those who hate me wrongfully.
Psa 38:20 Those who render me evil for good accuse me
because I follow after good.
Psa 38:21 Do not forsake me, O LORD!
O my God, be not far from me!
Psa 38:22 Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!

Yahweh Challenges Job Again
6 Then Yahweh answered Job from the storm, and he said,
7 “?Prepare yourself for a difficult task like a man?,
and I will question you, and you shall declare to me.
Yahweh Interrogates Job Again
8 “Indeed, would you annul my justice?
Would you condemn me, so that you might be righteous?
9 Or do you have an arm like God,
and can you thunder with a voice like his?
10 Adorn yourself with pride and dignity,
and clothe yourself with splendor.
11 Pour out the overflowing of your anger,
and look at all the proud, and humble them.
12 Look at all the proud, humble them,
and tread down the wicked ?where they stand?.
13 Hide them in the dust together;
bind their faces in the grave.
14 And I will also praise you,
that your own right hand can save you.
15 “Look, Behemoth, which I have made just as I made you;
it eats grass like the ox.
16 Look, its strength is in its loins
and its power in the muscles of its stomach.
17 It keeps its tail straight like a cedar;
the sinews of its thighs are tightly wound.
18 Its bones are tubes of copper,
its limbs like rods of iron.
19 “It is the first of God’s actions;
the one who made him furnishes it with his sword.
20 Yes, the mountains yield produce for it,
and all ?wild animals? play there.
21 Under the lotus tree it lies,
in the hiding place of the reeds and in the marsh.
22 The lotus trees cover it with their shade;
the wadi’s poplar trees surround it.
23 Look, if the river is turbulent, it is not frightened;
it is confident even though the Jordan rushes against its mouth.
24 Can anyone take it by its eyes?
Can he pierce its nose with a snare?
Lord’s Prayer

Merciful and gracious Lord, You cause Your Word to be proclaimed in every generation. Stir up our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that we may receive this proclamation with humility and finally be exalted at the coming of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
