Israel’s Affliction I am a man who has seen misery, under the rod of his wrath. 2 He has driven me along, he brought darkness and not light. 3 Surely he has turned his hand against me, all day long. 4 He has worn out my flesh and skin, he has broken my bones. 5 ?He has besieged? and engulfed me with bitterness and hardship…
+ DAILY PRAYER +
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 121
Psa 121:1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
Psa 121:2 My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
Psa 121:3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Psa 121:4 Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
Psa 121:5 The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
Psa 121:6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
Psa 121:7 The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
Psa 121:8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Israel’s Affliction
3 I am a man who has seen misery,
under the rod of his wrath.
2 He has driven me along, he brought
darkness and not light.
3 Surely he has turned his hand against me,
all day long.
4 He has worn out my flesh and skin,
he has broken my bones.
5 ?He has besieged? and engulfed me
with bitterness and hardship.
6 In darkness he has let me dwell
like the dead of long ago.
7 He has built a wall around me, I cannot go out;
he has made my bronze fetters heavy.
8 Though I cry out for help,
he shuts out my prayers.
9 He has blocked my ways with dressed stones;
he has made my paths crooked.
10 To me he is like a bear lying in wait,
a lion in hiding.
11 He has forsaken my way and torn me to pieces;
he has caused me desolation.
12 He has bent his bow and set me
as the target for the arrow.
13 He shot ?the arrows of his quiver?
into my kidneys.
Lord’s Prayer
Daily Prayer
Lord Jesus, when You were lifted up on the cross, the entire world experienced birth pains as the cosmos was rocked as Your death gave birth to a new creation. Focus our eyes on Your holy cross that we may see it as a tree of life preparing us for Your final coming in judgment as the Son of Man; for You live and reign with the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.
Concluding Prayer
Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
