The Maiden’s Dream: Seeking and Finding On my bed in the night, I sought him whom my ?heart? loves. I sought him, but I did not find him. 2 Now I will arise, and I will go about in the city, in the streets and in the squares; I will seek him whom my ?heart? loves. I sought him, but I did not find him. 3 The sentinels who go about in the city found me…

+ DAILY PRAYER +

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

     Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!

     In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!

     Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,

     and he hears my voice.

     Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;

     He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 62

Psa 62:1  For God alone my soul waits in silence;

from him comes my salvation.

Psa 62:2  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress;

I shall not be greatly shaken.

Psa 62:3  How long will all of you attack a man to batter him,

like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?

Psa 62:4  They only plan to thrust him down from his high position.

They take pleasure in falsehood.

They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah

Psa 62:5  For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

Psa 62:6  He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress;

I shall not be shaken.

Psa 62:7  On God rests my salvation and my glory;

my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

Psa 62:8  Trust in him at all times, O people;

pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

Psa 62:9  Those of low estate are but a breath;

those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up;

they are together lighter than a breath.

Psa 62:10  Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery;

if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

Psa 62:11  Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this:

that power belongs to God,

Psa 62:12  and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.

For you will render to a man according to his work.

The Maiden’s Dream: Seeking and Finding

3   On my bed in the night,

I sought him whom my ?heart? loves.

I sought him, but I did not find him.

2 Now I will arise, and I will go about in the city,

in the streets and in the squares;

I will seek him whom my ?heart? loves.

I sought him, but I did not find him.

3 The sentinels who go about in the city found me.

“Have you seen the one whom my ?heart? loves?”

4 ?Scarcely had I passed? by them

when I found him whom my ?heart? loves.

I held him and I would not let him go

until I brought him to the house of my mother,

into the bedroom chamber of she who conceived me.

Adjuration Refrain

5 I adjure you, ?O maidens of Jerusalem?,

by the gazelles or by the does of the field,

do not arouse or awaken love until it pleases!

Royal Wedding Procession

6 What is this coming up from the desert

like a column of smoke,

perfumed with myrrh and frankincense

from all the fragrant powders of the merchant?

7 Look! It is Solomon’s ?portable couch?!

Sixty mighty men surround ?it?,

the mighty men of Israel.

8 All of them ?wield swords?;

they are ?trained in warfare?,

each with his sword at his thigh

to guard ?against terror? in the night.

9 ?King Solomon? made for himself a sedan chair

from the wood of Lebanon.

10 He made its column of silver, its back of gold, its seat of purple;

its interior is inlaid with leather by ?the maidens of Jerusalem?.

11 Come out and look, ?O maidens of Zion?, at ?King Solomon?,

at the crown with which his mother crowned him

on the day of his wedding,

on the day of the joy of his heart!

Lord’s Prayer

Daily Prayer

   Almighty God, whom to know is everlasting life, grant us to know Your Son, Jesus, to be the way, the truth, and the life that we may boldly confess Him to be the Christ and steadfastly walk in the way that leads to life eternal; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Concluding Prayer

    Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
