+ DAILY PRAYER +

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

     Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!

     In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!

     Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,

     and he hears my voice.

     Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;

     He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 121

Psa 121:1  I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?

Psa 121:2  My help comes from the LORD,

who made heaven and earth.

Psa 121:3  He will not let your foot be moved;

he who keeps you will not slumber.

Psa 121:4  Behold, he who keeps Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

Psa 121:5  The LORD is your keeper;

the LORD is your shade on your right hand.

Psa 121:6  The sun shall not strike you by day,

nor the moon by night.

Psa 121:7  The LORD will keep you from all evil;

he will keep your life.

Psa 121:8  The LORD will keep your going out

and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Wisdom is Valuable

8   Who is like the sage?

Who knows the interpretation of a thing?

A man’s wisdom makes his face shine,

and the hardness of his face is changed.

2 Keep the command of the king

?because of your oath to God?.

3 Do not be terrified of his presence!

Go at once and do not delay when a matter is unpleasant,

for he can do anything that he desires.

4 Since the word of the king is supreme,

no one can say to him, “What are you doing?”

5 Whoever obeys his command will not suffer disaster.

The wise mind knows the proper time and the right procedure.

6 For there is a proper time and right procedure for every matter,

even though the trouble of man weighs heavy upon him.

No One Knows the Future

7 Surely no one knows what will be,

so who can tell anyone what will happen?

8 Just as no one can control the wind to restrain the wind,

so also no one can control the day of his death.

Just as no one is discharged in time of war,

so wickedness will not deliver the wicked.

Lord’s Prayer

Daily Prayer

   Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd of Your people, we give You thanks for Your servant Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, who was faithful in the care and nurture of the flock entrusted to his care.  So they may follow his example and the teaching of his holy life, give strength to pastors today who shepherd Your flock so that, by Your grace, Your people may grow into the fulness of life intended for them in paradise; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Concluding Prayer

    Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
