+ DAILY PRAYER +

Eliphaz’s Second Response to Job Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, 2 “Should the wise answer with windy knowledge, and should he fill his stomach with the east wind? 3 Should he argue in talk that is not profitable or in words with which he cannot do good?…

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

     Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy!

     In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!

     Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,

     and he hears my voice.

     Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;

     He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 44:1-8

Psa 44:1  O God, we have heard with our ears,

our fathers have told us,

what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old:

Psa 44:2  you with your own hand drove out the nations,

but them you planted; you afflicted the peoples,

but them you set free;

Psa 44:3  for not by their own sword did they win the land,

nor did their own arm save them,

but your right hand and your arm,

and the light of your face, for you delighted in them.

Psa 44:4  You are my King, O God;

ordain salvation for Jacob!

Psa 44:5  Through you we push down our foes;

through your name we tread down those who rise up against us.

Psa 44:6  For not in my bow do I trust,

nor can my sword save me.

Psa 44:7  But you have saved us from our foes

and have put to shame those who hate us.

Psa 44:8  In God we have boasted continually,

and we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah

Reading for Wednesday September 11th       Job 15:1-9

Eliphaz’s Second Response to Job

15 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2 “Should the wise answer with windy knowledge,

and should he fill his stomach with the east wind?

3 Should he argue in talk that is not profitable

or in words with which he cannot do good?

4 “?What is worse?, you yourself are doing away with fear,

and you are lessening meditation ?before? God.

5 For your iniquity teaches your mouth,

and you choose the tongue of the crafty.

6 Your mouth condemns you, and not I;

and your lips testify against you.

7 “Were you born the firstborn of the human race?

And were you brought forth ?before? the hills?

8 Have you listened in God’s confidential discussion?

And do you limit wisdom to yourself?

9 What do you know that we do not know?

What do you understand that is not clear to us?

Lord’s Prayer

Daily Prayer

   Most merciful Father, with compassion You hear the cries of Your people in great distress.  Be with all who now endure affliction and calamity, bless the work of those who bring rescue and relief, and enable us to aid and comfort those who are suffering that they may find renewed hope and purpose; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Concluding Prayer

    Heavenly Father, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us to do Your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
