based Acts 2:14a, 22-24, 33

(today’s Epistle reading)

Peter was moved and empowered by the Holy Spirit to speak boldly to thousands of people gathered in Jerusalem at the festival of Pentecost.  He called them to turn away from the sins and turn to God for forgiveness.  This boldness was only 50+ days after his three-fold denial in the presence of only a few servants on Thursday evening of Holy Week.  What the Holy Spirit can do for otherwise weak and fearful humans is powerful and amazing.  He can renew and energize us, and fill our lives with God’s strong and comforting presence.
